some of the game’s new features as Portalarium opens access to Early Release #3 today. For the first time, players will
now be able to interact with other players in Shroud’s virtual world via several social systems including chat and emotes.
These are some of the latest features to be unveiled as the team continues to deliver new early release content to backers
of the crowd funded project every single month.
“It’s been almost a year since we first announced
Shroud of the Avatar and started our Kickstarter launch,” said Portalarium’s® creative director and co-founder Richard Garriott. “In the last
eight weeks we’ve asked our backers to enter the world so they can experience our progress first hand. The momentum
is building and now we have a chance to see how our multiplayer functionality stands up to the test. These short three to
four day tests allow us to see how we are doing and to close the loop with our fans so we can make the game they want and
we want.”
Among the other new features in this early release is the addition of an “add friend”
menu that appears when players touch the “F” key. Also there will be a new village to explore, Braemar, which
in addition to the previously unveiled Owls Head and Kingsport, provides a virtual world that is growing and will continue
to expand with each successive release in 2014. There is also improved crafting functionality in Release 3 as well as access
to merchants which should give players who like to create their own items a chance to craft and sell to their heart’s
content. Release 3 also includes several songs created by the community via The Bards of Poets’ Circle, a player run
guild.
Instructions to backers for downloading the Release 3 client, installing and then playing and interacting
in New Britannia are located here: download, install, play.

02/19/2014 - OysterWorld Expansion Project Begins in WalesWales proving great location
for OysterWorld as expansion project gets underway OysterWorld – the computer gaming company that opened a development centre in Wales last year –
is already expanding and investing £2.5m in a new project that with Welsh Government support will create 25 new jobs.
This latest investment means that by 2017 the company will have created at least 85 well paid graduate level
jobs at its Treforest centre, near Pontypridd. The Welsh Government is providing £415,000 in business finance
to help bring a new games development project to Wales and create new jobs.
Funding support will enable OysterWorld
to buy back the complete intellectual property rights for their Hidden Object Puzzle Adventure games and bring production
from Poland to Wales. It is setting up a new team over the next 18 months to develop and produce the games.
Economy
Minister Edwina Hart said:” I am delighted to support this expansion which will not only create high quality jobs but
help build a strong gaming sector in Wales and develop a substantial skills base.
“Gaming development
is a fast growing sector within creative industries and this project supports our sector strategy to create permanent
quality jobs and help companies build up their IP portfolio. It also brings a popular, established genre of game to Wales
for worldwide export.”
Phil Terrett, Chief Operating Officer of OysterWorld said: "The
support of the Welsh Government has been instrumental in enabling us to buy back all the rights to these games and bring production
to Wales. We are actively working with Welsh universities to recruit local talent and this project will provide opportunities
for art and design students, as well as programming students.
“OysterWorld will now be amongst the
first to pilot development of this genre in the region, which will further raise the profile of the Welsh games development
community. The Hidden Object games genre is particularly exciting because the games themselves are accessible to
mainstream audiences, rather than exclusive to core gamers. The gameplay is simple enough to dive into, and the story-telling
is what keeps people coming back for more.
“We have been more than pleased with the calibre of people
we have been able to recruit since we opened our development, marketing and R&D centre in Wales which reinforces
our belief that Wales is a great location for us to expand our business.”
OysterWorld announced in
June 2013 it was to open a new development centre in Wales with £1m business finance from the Welsh Government to create
60 jobs over three years. It has already created 20 jobs which is ahead of their expected schedule.
OysterWorld’s
management team have, between them, 75 years of experience in running successful games development/publishing businesses.
They intend to grow OysterWorld into a major force in development, publishing and electronic distribution of interactive entertainment
software and online content services.

02/17/2014 - Dialect and Wargaming Debut New Interactive MagazineDialect and Wargaming
debut the premiere issue of Let’s Battle, a free cross-platform interactive magazine that redefines rich media for gamers
Available Now
for iOS and Android devices, Let's Battle Turns Strategy, History, eSports Coverage and News Into Interactive Experiences
for Over 75 Million Fans of Wargaming Games 17th February 2014 Dialect, Inc. and Wargaming are proud to announce that the premiere issue of Let's Battle—the
next-generation interactive magazine for fans of the hugely popular Wargaming series of games including World of Tanks,
World of Warplanes, and World of Warships—is now available for free on iOS and Android devices via
iTunes Newsstand and Google Play.
Custom-developed by San Francisco-based Dialect, Inc.
for Wargaming, Let's Battle was created as a companion and guide to the hugely popular free-to-play strategic MMOs
that now boast over 78 million active players worldwide. With extraordinary interactive content written by well-known writers
in the videogame industry given exclusive access to Wargaming's developers, archivists, and historical experts, Let's
Battle breaks new ground in custom content that promotes deep engagement with brands.
"Dialect's
high-quality, 'sticky' editorial brings fans deeper into the games and keeps them coming back, while at the same time providing
Wargaming with a highly effective, proven engagement and acquisition tool,” said Dialect CEO John Gower. “The
beauty of the concept is that everybody wins—the reader and the brand. Our content inspires people to act, making it
an incredible tool to build loyalty and community in a beautiful, new, and interactive format.”
Let's
Battle's innovative interactive content is overseen by Logan Decker, a technology and videogame journalism veteran who
recently joined Dialect Inc. as Editorial Director after 14 years at Future US, most recently as the Editor-in-Chief of PC
Gamer Magazine. "Dialect's business depends on delivering exciting, authoritative content with none of the fluff
or coercion associated with traditional custom publishing. That's what I joined Dialect to create and build upon," said
Decker. "But today's gamers require even more than just great stories to stay engaged. Gamers are 'doers' by nature,
so content developed for them needs to reflect that. At Dialect we've created a digital medium that gives gamers the ability
to direct their own experiences in much the same way that games do, and with Let's Battle we're continuing to demonstrate
the effectiveness of that medium."
The premiere issue of Let’s Battle includes content
that embraces gamers new to the Wargaming franchises as well as experienced players and history buffs, including a guide to
the most essential flight skills and combat maneuvers in “Piloting 101” and “Fight Plan,” an in-depth
look at the new complement of armored combat vehicles introduced in World of Tanks (“Japanese Tanks Storm the Battlefield”),
an exclusive first look at the newest addition to the Wargaming universe “World of Warships,” and “Urban
Warfare Survival,” an interactive tutorial that teaches gamers how to use buildings and terrain to get the drop on their
enemies in battle! Let’s Battle also provides rich historical context to the Wargaming universe as well as
the tactical lessons acquired in such legendary conflicts as “The Battle of Kursk” and “The Battle of the
Philipine Sea.” Plus, readers get the scoop on the development of the Xbox 360 edition of World of Tanks, interviews
and insight from the developers, and guides to the popular Clan Wars and making the most of Wargaming’s Unified Premium
Account.
Since its founding in 2011, Dialect has partnered with some of the world's leading technology, media,
and games brands including NVIDIA, GameFly, and EA. Dialect publishes the hugely successful The Sims Official Magazine
for EA, already the world's biggest game franchise magazine with over 1 million app downloads.
"The independent
editorial from well-known, trusted writers that we publish resonates with gamers looking for a deeper dive into their favorite
games," added Gower. "And in return, the brand gets a powerful, proven engagement and acquisition tool that increases
revenues and cross-pollinates other games and products from our partners. 90% of readers do something they read about in our
magazines and our unique formula is quickly proving to be a hugely valuable 'cut-through' marketing initiative for the brands
we work with."
