01/10/2014 - Razer Wins Best of CES for Third Straight Year
BEST OF CES WINS GO TO RAZER FOR THIRD STRAIGHT YEAR

Modular PC Concept wins Best PC Award and Smartband wins People´s Choice from Engadget

LAS VEGAS (CES 2014) January 10, 2014 - Razer, the world leader in entertainment devices and software, took top honors at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) for the third consecutive year with its modular PC concept Project Christine and the wearable Razer Nabu smartband.

Project Christine earned “Best PC” distinctions from Engadget, the official awards partner at CES. Concurrently, the Razer Nabu was selected as Engadget´s “People´s Choice” by way of an open public vote. This is the third year in a row that Razer walked away with a “Best of CES” win, including “People´s Voice” in 2012, and “Best of Show,” “Best Gaming” and “People´s Voice” in 2013.

“Razer is not just a gaming company - we are a company that designs products for gamers,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and creative director. “Our continued success at CES really speaks to the gaming lifestyle as a global phenomenon. We´re just a start-up, but our worldwide community of gamers and what we do for them positions us shoulder-to-shoulder -albeit uniquely - with the largest tech companies in the world.”

Selected by Engadget´s editorial team, Project Christine is a revolutionary new PC concept design. It will allow a user to build and customize a computer without advanced technical knowledge - a PC for everyone. As new upgrades come to the market, the PC can be easily and quickly upgraded without assistance or the fear of incompatibility or obsolescence. Project Christine´s modular design allows users to select and install modules on-the-fly, whether it´s a CPU, GPU, or memory and storage configuration, all in a liquid-cooled environment. The result is an ultimately modular, upgradable and powerfully silent computer that can run on any operating platform.

Engadget´s People´s Choice of CES was awarded to Razer for its Nabu smartband, a product in an entirely new category for the company, built on an open platform that delivers smartphone notifications, collects physical data and communicates with other users´ bands, all from one´s wrist. The Nabu tracks fitness data, location, sleep data, and biometric information (such as distance traveled and stairs climbed), all on an opt-in basis. Additionally, the Razer Nabu incorporates a social component, offering band-to-band active and passive communication, so users can find nearby friends, mutual acquaintances and more.

The Razer Nabu won the Popular Mechanics Editor´s Choice Award, the Tom´s Guide Readers´ Choice Award, and the Digital Trend´s Best of CES in the Sports and Fitness category. Project Christine won Tom´s Hardware´s Best of CES in the Outside the Box category, and PCWorld and TechHive´s Best of CES Award in the Best Prototype category.

·During the day, your suit is designed to absorb sunlight and power the battery.
·Press '=' to enter the Block Manager and check the box for 'Machinery' to see what you can make.

01/08/2014 - Chilli Hugger Software to remake Midwinter
Chilli Hugger Software to remake Mike Singleton’s Midwinter

16-bit classic will be updated for PC and consoles

January 9th, 2014 – Chilli Hugger Software is pleased to announce that a new version of the critically acclaimed Commodore Amiga and Atari ST game Midwinter is now in development.

First released in 1989, Midwinter was created by pioneering British game designer Mike Singleton, who died in 2012. The new Midwinter project has the full support of the Singleton family, and includes key members of the original development team. Original Midwinter programmer and industry veteran Dave Gautrey is the technical lead on the game, using the original game code and design documents as a foundation. Games journalist, scriptwriter and author Dan Whitehead has taken on the creative lead role, responsible for narrative design and gameplay. Chilli Hugger founder Chris Wild, developer of the iOS remake of Singleton's The Lords of Midnight, is overseeing the project.

Chris says: “Midwinter was a seminal game, and a huge influence on the open world sandbox genre, but Mike's vision was held back by the technology of the time. Our aim is to bring Midwinter back into the modern gaming environment, combining the depth and variety of the original with today's cutting edge visuals and processing power. The goal is not to merely remake the game, but to fully realise Mike's ambitious design without the limitations of 16-bit hardware.”

Midwinter has been in pre-production throughout 2013 and will enter the next stage of development with a Kickstarter campaign in early 2014, at which point the core development team will be expanded. Anyone interested in being part of the project at that time are asked to contact Chilli Hugger software directly.

Midwinter is aiming for an early 2015 release.

01/07/2014 - Razer New Modular PC Concept Design
RAZER RE-INVENTS GAMING DESKTOPS WITH THE WORLD´S MOST MODULAR PC CONCEPT DESIGN

Project Christine Simplifies PC Set-Up, Future Upgrades and Eliminates Obsolescence

LAS VEGAS (CES 2014), Jan. 7, 2014 - Razer, the world leader in entertainment devices and software, today announced a concept of what promises to be the world´s most modular gaming system, Project Christine.

The PC has traditionally been one of the most open platforms in all of technology. However, given the technical complexities of PC hardware, only the most hardcore enthusiasts have been able to take advantage of this openness to build, customize and continuously upgrade their PC desktop systems. The tremendous promise of the PC has remained underexploited by the vast majority of general consumers for more than 30 years, largely due to the convoluted hardware - knowing what does what, what works with what, and how to connect the pieces.

Project Christine is a revolutionary new concept design that will change the way users view PCs. It will allow any user to build and customize his or her PC in any configuration without any prior technical knowledge. Further, as new upgrades come to the market, the same PC can be easily and quickly upgraded without additional technical assistance and without the fear of incompatibility or obsolescence.

Project Christine´s modular design allows users to easily build their PCs by allowing them to select and install modules on-the-fly, whether it´s a CPU, GPU, or memory and storage configuration. The PCI-Express architecture of Project Christine automatically syncs components. Need more graphics processing power or storage? Easy - a user can slot-in additional graphics modules and add more storage by either swapping-out the existing storage drives or adding more modules. Equally exciting, Project Christine is able to run multiple operating systems that the user may require.

The modularity of Project Christine make it perpetually customizable, offering plug-and-play upgradability as new and improved technology evolves, ostensibly eliminating the need to replace entire systems. Modules connected to the PCI-Express backbone can be added in any order or combination, featuring up to quad-SLI graphics, multiple SSD and RAID storage components, I/O and even power supplies, ensuring maximum flexibility.

The cable-less design of each sealed module is entirely self-contained and features active liquid cooling and noise cancelation, which allows Razer to factory overclock components without voiding warranties, safely and quietly. The system also features a touch-screen LED display that indicates control and maintenance information.

“Project Christine is a new concept design that will revolutionize the way users view the traditional PC. This is the first gaming system that is able to keep pace with technology and could allow consumers to never buy another PC, or gaming system, again,” says Min-Liang Tan, Razer co-founder, CEO and creative director. “We have a history of bringing incredibly innovative concept systems to market and it’s fair to say that Project Christine is a very exciting new prospect for future development.”

01/06/2014 - Secrets of Raetikon early access Steam launch
Secrets of Rætikon Steam Early Access launch imminent

Remember flying as a bird, exploring an open world! Secrets of Rætikon is launching on Steam Early Access on January 7th at 2pm PST. A DRM-free version of the game is launching on the Humble Store at the same time. The launch price is $9.99 (£6.99, €8.99). There's a 25% launch discount during the first week on both platforms. Secrets of Rætikon runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. Included with the game is a level editor that allows to transform the whole game or even build a new one and share it via Steam Workshop.

OPEN ALPHA
Secrets of Rætikon is launching as Open Alpha and is not content complete yet. The current version includes a single player campaign featuring seven different kinds of animals that build an emergent ecosystem. Everthing is alive and the whole world of Secrets of Rætikon adheres to the laws of physics. There are mysteries to uncover, animal kings to meet and runes to decipher. The final secret, though, is not included yet.

WHY EARLY ACCESS
We are planning to launch the finished games at the end of Q1/2014. This being an open alpha, the release date is not set in stone, though. First we want to engage with the community, to get feedback and to make sure that the game is running stable on all configurations. We want to release Secrets of Rætikon when it is done, but we need to finance the last stretch of development. That is the reason why we're launching on Early Access.

NEED A DOWNLOAD KEY?
If you have not got a download key for the game, now is the time to request one. Just drop me a line and I'll gladly send you one. Feel free to ask any questions or ask for an interview, too.

01/06/2014 - Space Farmers now available on Desura
Space Farmers Alpha Is Now Available on Desura!

Grab a buddy and get ready to destroy robots, carry pigs and enter the crazy co-op world of Space Farmers!

The 2 player sensation, that’s grown a loyal fan base through appearances at UK gaming festivals, is being released on Desura’s Alpha-Funded scheme.  Which means the rest of the world gets to play and help shape the game.

Hundreds of attendees to Insomnia50 played the game recently and the response was fantastic. Many even came back later to have another go during the event. Now it’s time for the rest of the world to play the game!

Players who get the Space Farmers Alpha will be the first to receive awesome updates to the game as soon as they’re available.

So far just the PC version has been released but the Mac and Linux builds of this version are coming very soon indeed.

A completely free version of the Alpha has also been released which is compatible with the full version but contains fewer playable areas.
