01/11/2013 - Wii U Hardware Sales Beat Wii Sales By More Than $30 MillionWII U HARDWARE SALES SURPASS WII SALES BY MORE THAN $30 MILLION THROUGH
FIRST SIX WEEKS
Jan. 10, 2013 - With more than 460,000 units sold in
December, Wii U has now sold nearly 890,000 units in the United States after only 41 days on the market, according to the
NPD Group. To date, Wii U hardware sales have generated more than $300 million in the U.S. alone; Wii hardware had generated
just more than $270 million at the same point in its lifecycle.
"While the Wii launch established new benchmarks
in the United States, Wii U has surpassed its predecessor in perhaps the most important category: revenue generation,"
said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "The demand for the Deluxe
SKU, which was essentially sold out at retail this holiday, and the strong attach rate of New Super Mario Bros.
U, shows that we have the value and the games to drive momentum in 2013. We look forward to offering great new experiences
and bringing smiles to millions of new faces throughout the year."
Nintendo sold more than 2.65 million hardware
units in the United States in the month of December. 2012 marked the 11th consecutive year that Nintendo has sold at least
8 million hardware units in the U.S. Other Nintendo sales milestones achieved in December 2012 and beyond that time frame,
include:
Wii U: Nintendo 3DS: - Nintendo 3DS sold more than 1.25 million units in December and has crossed 7.7
million units sold life to date.
- New Super Mario Bros. 2 became the fourth Nintendo 3DS title to surpass 1 million units
sold in the U.S., and has now sold more than 1.45 million units life to date.
- Nintendo 3DS continues to outpace the historic sales rate of Nintendo DS.
Wii: - Wii sold nearly 475,000 units and crossed 40.8 million units sold life to date.
- Ubisoft's Just Dance 3 became the 10th Wii title to sell more
than 5 million units life to date.
Nintendo DS: - Nintendo DS sold nearly 470,000 units and crossed 53 million units sold life to
date.

01/11/2013 - Guide to Pockie Pirates Grand Line AdventureGuide to Pockie Pirates’ Grand Line Adventures
One Piece anime
MMO details instances and quests in the Grand Line map
Online games developer and publisher, NGames,
has released a useful guide to the Adventures awaiting players in the brand new Grand Line expansion to browser-based One
Piece MMO, Pockie Pirates.
The new Grand Line map faithfully recaptures the famous Grand Line ocean trail
from the hit One Piece anime series, which Luffy and co sail for adventure. The biggest expansion to hit Pockie Pirates to
date, adventures on the new Grand Line map run parallel to the main Pockie Pirates game, allowing players to return to land
and take part in instances and quests while their ships sail the long distances between towns.
The world map is
split into four different colors – green, blue, purple and red. Each colour corresponds to a difficulty level for the
Adventures (green for the easiest and red for the hardest).
Undertaking a more difficult Adventure on the Grand
Line will yield greater rewards, with Blue (easy) Adventures providing double the experience of Green (newbie) ones. Each
Adventure also offers other rewards, which can be converted into Crystals at the Crystal Redeem Shop.
With more
difficult Adventures providing the greatest rewards, the trick is to be able to advance through the easiest levels as quickly
as possible.
During an Adventure, commanding pirates must select where each character will be positioned during
battle. Every Pockie Pirates character has his/her own preferred position on the ship, whether it's manning the turrets or
taking control of the oars, so selecting the right configuration will greatly aid a player’s cause.
The Grand
Line adventures are presented using a grid structure, where each square triggers a uniquely exciting event. Players have 40
mobility points to spend when adventuring and are advised to use as many as possible in order to come away with the maximum
possible haul of treasure. Adventures culminate in a challenging boss encounter, with vast rewards on offer for captains able
to defeat them.
Pirates need to be on their toes and prepared for anything on the Grand Line map - multiple random
events can trigger on every square of the grid, including battles for items, double rewards, teleportation, treasure chests,
and specially designed minigames.
--
Pockie Pirates: Chapter 6 launched into open beta on Christmas
Day, December 25th, introducing new characters, content, and a faithful recreation of the Grand Line to the One Piece MMO.

comparison screenshots illustrating the differences between the original PS minis release and Velocity Ultra.
Being a native PlayStation Vita title, Velocity Ultra also features PSN Trophies and online leader
boards; something that fans of the game had earnestly requested (demanded) after playing the original.
From
James Marsden, FuturLab's Managing Director: “We couldn’t be more excited about Velocity Ultra.
We’re so grateful to our fans and supporters and we’re committed to keeping our reputation nice and shiny with

01/10/2013 - GameStick Reinstated By KickstarterGAMESTICK REINSTATED BY KICKSTARTER
London & San Francisco - Thursday 10th January, 2013 -
GameStick, the successful kickstarter project has been reinstated after being taken down for 2 hours. The company apologizes
to their backers for the confusion and are relieved to be back up again in such a short time. In a statement the company said:
“Creating a product that meets high expectations
of a company and of the end users can be a very big project. GameStick has worked around-the-clock for months to be able to
deliver a product we're proud of and certain will be regarded by gamers everywhere. As
we launched on Kickstarter, we made a small oversight in one of our promo videos hosted on our campaign wherein we overlooked
a game image in the video that wasn't cleared for exposure.
To
give Kickstarter credit, they look out for the intellectual property of others. They were alerted to this game in our video
and immediately hid our campaign from the public.
Once
we learned what the intellectual issue was, we quickly removed the video and within two short hours we are now back up and
running.
GameStick certainly wants to be a team player in the games industry and by no means do we
want to showcase any game or product that isn't cleared first.
The GameStick community of backers,
supporters and fans have been absolutely incredible. We're happy to have the campaign up and running again and we're positive
that we can reach those stretch goals soon and offer an even better gaming experience through GameStick.”

campaign, which is now fully reinstated, can be seen here: [LINK]

01/09/2013 - Wargaming Search for Spitfires Team Arrives in BurmaWARGAMING SEARCH FOR SPITFIRES TEAM FINALLY ARRIVES IN BURMA
Wargaming - an award-winning
online games developer (World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships), publisher and one of the leaders in the
free-to-play MMO market - today released the first batch of pictures from Burma, where a team of archaeologists is currently
searching on the former RAF Mingaladon, now Yangon International Airport, in an attempt to uncover the truth about longstanding
rumours that RAF Spitfire fighters were buried there after the Second World War.
‘I spent six months traveling
back and forth to Myanmar with David Cundall to secure permission from the Myanmar government to excavate. It is wonderful
to be here in Yangon at last, with a full team of independent experts, to begin the dig at last,” said Tracy Spaight,
Director of Special Projects at Wargaming. ‘It’s a huge site, but once our archaeologists and geophysics team
are able to get out on the ground they will be able to narrow down the search area. This means that, all
being well, our JCB’s will be able to break ground within the next week’.
If these pictures have whet
your appetite to find out more about this fascinating project and you want to get much closer to what the team are doing,
head to Tracy’s blog. The blog recounts the race to secure the contract to dig, the detective work required to uncover
what happened at RAF Mingaladon in 1945 including a lot of new evidence about the Mystery of Mingaladon, and finally a blow
by blow account of the actual archaeological survey and excavation as it happens;
Blog Address: http://worldofwarplanes.eu/The investment from Wargaming will allow Mr Cundall and the Burmese
authorities to jointly progress this unprecedented heritage project, in the process, possibly solving a long-standing
mystery of the Pacific theatre and offering a unique perspective on the role of the British Royal Air Force in World War II.
Wargaming, a company known around the world for its flagship PC MMO action game, World of Tanks, and the soon to be
released World of Warplanes, has made military history and authenticity a hallmark of its company focus since its formation
in 1998. A veteran of military-themed video game titles, the company provides its players with unique online gaming experiences
coupled with meticulously researched and authentic military vehicles. Outside of video games, the company has also worked
with a number of organizations dedicated to military history and preservation, including most recently the USS IOWA, the National
World War II Museum and Tank Museum Bovington to name a few.

your ten balls up and away, then use your flippers to redirect them, in attempt to score as much as possible. Don't
forget to look out for the bonuses - they will get you an extra ball! The experts amongst you can also tilt the device
to alter a ball's trajectory, for maximum point scoring.

01/09/2013 - Dark Horse Teams with American McGee's Spicy Horse StudiosDark
Horse Teams With American McGee's Spicy Horse Studios To Bring The ARPG Akaneiro To Comics JANUARY 9, MILWAUKIE, OR–Following up on last week’s Kickstarter launch
of Spicy Horse’s upcoming ARPG, Akaneiro: Demon Hunters, Spicy Horse Studios and Dark Horse Comics announce
that this soon-to-be-released game will be expanding into comics! From the brilliant minds behind video game auteur American McGee’s Spicy Horse Studios, Akaneiro mixes
a foundation of Japanese folklore with an original mythology inspired by Red Riding Hood, yielding a fantastic and exciting
setting for players to explore and perfectly setting the stage for the visual storytelling of comics. Written by Justin
Aclin (Star Wars: The Clone Wars) and illustrated by Vasilis Lolos (Conan the Barbarian), the comics follow Kani a young
woman torn between two cultures on an epic adventure hunting devious Yokai and pursuing a destiny far greater than even
she can perceive as a member of the fabled Order of Akane. Known
for his bold artistic vision and high-concept reimaginations of well-known characters, American McGee builds on the success
of American McGee’s Alice, its sequel, Alice: Madness Returns, and the episodic game American McGee’s Grimm.
This reinterpretation of Red Riding Hood as a monster hunter in a mythological Japan is sure to excite fans and
game critics alike. “Though I hate being categorized as
some sort of auteur, I’m thrilled to be working again with the rocket-scientist sex machines at Dark Horse,”
said Spicy Horse Studio head American McGee. “Our previous collaborations with Dark Horse have produced stunning results,
like the art book for Alice: Madness Returns. It’s a perfect marriage of art and execution.” An original story expanding the universe of Akaneiro, featuring covers by the Spicy Horse
artists creating the game, this three-issue comics series debuts on May 22!

01/08/2013 - Psygnosis USB Owl Stick Audio Album Deal"Psygnosis USB 'Owl' Stick Audio Album - P&P Slashed!".
The Psygnosis Brand
is well know and revered among long-in-the-tooth gamers Worldwide. Psygnosis were famed for their impressive innovation, stunning
visuals, jaw dropping CGi in-game movies and lavish
product packaging. Some of their most famous games were released on the fondly remembered Commodore Amiga Home Computer; Shadow
of the Beast, Lemmings, Agony, The Killing Game Show, Carthage, Leander and Microcosm and many more...
In 2010
Tim Wright (aka. CoLD SToRAGE) told us he would be re-creating 25 of his best loved Commodore Amiga tracks in full CD Audio,
with brand new instrumentation and new arrangements, bringing to life these old 8 bit tunes in the form of new, fully fleshed
out musical works.
STRIX MEMORIA ◔ is that new album, and it's
something rather special! Supplied on a custom 4Gb USB stick in the shape of the classic Psygnosis Owl Head logo, it
comes packaged in an individually numbered (limited edition) stylish silver tin which is 'laser etched' with the Psygnosis
'Owl' logo. The package is rounded off with an 8 page fan-fold colour brochure.
Wright
says; “Interest in the album so far has been wonderful! We did have an annoying hiccup in the
P&P department over Christmas because our suppliers
had quoted us top-end tracked courier prices . But most people told us they simply wanted a basic but safe delivery.
We took all the comments we received on board and badgered the suppliers for their best prices. I'm now happy to say that
our new P&P costs are very reasonable indeed, and shipment is now via International Air Mail or Royal Mail in the UK.
Also to be fair, anyone who has paid for the
courier service will receive a refund for the difference.
We hope this means that the album is now affordable to
everyone who is interested ! ”
The album is available on pre-order up until the 31st January 2013.
Orders are being taken Worldwide, and delivery is being fulfilled by International Air Mail and Standard Royal Mail.

01/08/2013 - Indie Royale Replay Bundle Now LIVEIndie Royale Replay Bundle Vol 1. Live!
Replay some of the greatest hits from previous
Indie Royale bundles in the Replay Bundle Vol. 1 (http://www.indieroyale.com/). Back by popular demand - grab great titles that you may have missed the
first time around! Included in this bundle are FPS and RTS hybrid experience Nuclear Dawn, futuristic tower-defense game Defense
Grid: The Awakening, classic 2D adventure game Gemini Rue, and two fast-paced dungeon adventures Soulcaster I and II. Also
included is a very special 56-track album bonus (a $20 value!) for those who pay $8 USD or their currency equivalent during
this bundle, the 8 Bit Weapon Collection.
First up is InterWave Studios' Nuclear Dawn, available for Windows and
Mac on Steam, which offers a full FPS and RTS hybrid experience, without crippling or diluting either side of the game. Players
can storm a building as an assault trooper, cling to the shadows with active stealth, or unleash incredible firepower from
a high-tech suit of exo-armor, or lead as a commander, marshalling resources and deploying weapons and equipment for your
troops. PCGamer praises Nuclear Dawn calling it a "surprisingly deep and well-designed FPS/RTS hybrid."
Also included is Hidden Path Entertainment's Defense Grid: The Awakening, an acclaimed, futuristic tower-defense game for
Windows on Steam, Desura, and DRM-free. GameSpot calls it a "quintessential example" of the genre and "compulsively
playable" for newcomers and skilled players, as they attempt to fight off hoards of increasingly complex alien assaults.
Defense Grid includes *six* additional items of DLC: the Borderlands DLC, Resurgence Map Packs 1-4, and an upgrade from the
first Indie Royale, the 'GLaDOS from Portal'-starring You Monster DLC! (The additional DLC is available for Steam only.)
Next up is Wadjet Eye Games' Gemini Rue, available for Windows on Steam, Desura, and DRM-free. A previous Independent
Games Festival finalist, the Joshua Nuernberger-created title is a moody, classic 2D adventure game, with a futuristic sci-fi
setting and hand-drawn backgrounds galore. IGN raves about Gemini Rue: "[w]ith (for the most part) seamless, intuitive
gameplay, impressive atmosphere and one of most well-crafted and interesting storylines seen in recent years, Gemini Rue is
a game not just for adventure fans, but for anyone who loves a good, gritty yarn."
Last up are two acclaimed
retro RPG-defense games: Soulcaster I and II available for Windows on Desura and DRM-free. Acclaimed indie developer MagicalTimeBean
offers up two fast-paced dungeon adventures, where players tactically summon the powers of immortal warriors to battle hordes
of monsters, discover secrets, collect treasure and buy powerful upgrades for their immortal allies. DIY Gamer says of Soulcaster
II "It's simple, it's focused, it's compelling and it's just plain fun. The simple retro aesthetic works well, and the
soundtrack is full of energy and toe-tapping beats. Grab it."
Again, for those who pay $8 USD or their currency
equivalent for the Replay Bundle Vol. 1 get a chiptune masterpiece, the 8 Bit Weapon Collection [LINK] from 8 Bit Weapon. This 56-track album covers over a decade of groundbreaking
work by the chipmusic band 8 Bit Weapon and ComputeHer. Featuring 3 hours of chiptastic sounds, the tracks come from multiple

01/05/2013 - CasinoRPG Launches KickstarterHTML5 MMORPG CasinoRPG Launches on Kickstarter
Oklahoma City -
January 7, 2013 - GoldFire Studios, creator of real-time multiplayer games for the web, today launched a Kickstarter campaign for its hotly anticipated new title, CasinoRPG. CasinoRPG offers a unique gameplay experience that wraps role-playing,
tycoon and casino games into a web-based, isometric MMORPG using the latest HTML5 technologies. The use of HTML5 allows the
game to be played synchronously across most modern devices, without the need for downloads or plugins.
James Simpson,
GoldFire Studios' CEO and founder, started developing games for the web when he was just thirteen years old. He has continued
his passion for the last decade, and millions around the world have now played his games and game-related products. "Growing
up in Oklahoma, there weren't a lot of opportunities for game development," said Simpson, "so I started my own independent
game studio while attending the University of Oklahoma."
GoldFire Studios just wrapped up three months in
the VentureSpur startup accelerator program out of Oklahoma City. "We've chosen to stay here in Oklahoma City rather
than go to one of the coasts," said Simpson. The team sees it as a competitive advantage because of the quickly evolving
culture in the city, as well as the fact that they are the only studio in town. Simpson added that "tech startups no
longer have to be in Silicon Valley to succeed, and we hope to prove that with CasinoRPG."
According to Simpson,
"there hasn't been much innovation in the casino games space." CasinoRPG aims to change that by creating an entirely
new category that wraps a vast, persistent virtual world around classic casino games. "No longer are you just pulling
a virtual lever, there is actually depth to the gameplay," he continued.
"We've faced many technical
challenges working with such new technologies, but we've come a long way and are ready to show the world what the web is capable
of," says Luke Simkins, GoldFire Studios' Chief Technology Officer. Simpson added that "we've barely begun to tap
the possibilities of the web as a legitimate gaming platform, the future of browser gaming is very exciting."
CasinoRPG is unique to Kickstarter because it is already nearing completion and will enter beta testing shortly after the
successful completion of the Kickstarter campaign. "We want to make a good game great, and that doesn't come cheap,"
said Simpson, "so we are turning to Kickstarter to get us to the finish line." Backers of the Kickstarter will be
able to participate in private beta rounds months before the game is released to the public, along with access to various
physical and digital rewards.
About GoldFire Studios GoldFire Studios, Inc. is an independent
game development and publishing studio based out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. GoldFire Studios specializes in developing highly
interactive browser-based games that utilize cutting-edge web technologies around real-time multiplayer gameplay experiences.

01.07.2012 - Project Shield Debuts at CES 2013NVIDIA Untethers Gaming with Project SHIELD, World’s First Gaming
Portable for Open Platforms
Designed for Modern Gamers to Play When, Where, How They Want
LAS VEGAS—CES—Jan. 6, 2013— NVIDIA today
announced Project SHIELD, the world’s first gaming portable for open platforms, designed for
modern gamers who yearn to play when, where and how they want. Created
with the philosophy that gaming should be open and flexible, Project SHIELD flawlessly plays both Android and PC titles. As
a pure Android device, it gives access to any game on Google Play. And as a wireless receiver and controller, it can stream
games from a PC powered by NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX GPUs, accessing titles on its STEAM game library from anywhere in the home. “Project SHIELD was created by NVIDIA engineers who love to game and imagined
a new way to play,” said Jen-Hsun Huang, co-founder and chief executive officer at NVIDIA. “We were inspired by
a vision that the rise of mobile and cloud technologies will free us from our boxes, letting us game anywhere, on any screen.
We imagined a device that would do for games what the iPod and Kindle have done for music and books, letting us play in a
cool new way. We hope other gamers love SHIELD as much as we do.” Project SHIELD combines the advanced processing power of NVIDIA Tegra® 4, breakthrough game-speed Wi-Fi technology and stunning HD video and audio
built into a console-grade controller. It can be used to play on its own integrated screen or on a big screen, and on the
couch or on the go. Tegra 4 at Its Heart At the core of Project SHIELD is the world’s fastest mobile processor, the new NVIDIA Tegra 4, which delivers enormous
power from its custom 72-core GeForce GPU and the first quad-core application of ARM’s most advanced CPU core, the Cortex-A15.
These, combined with its battery-saver core and energy-saving PRISM 2 technology, deliver hours of gameplay on a single charge. Windows and Android Games Windows and Android are the
world’s most successful computing platforms, with massive ecosystems of system and software developers. While not specifically
designed for gaming, both open platforms have drawn gamers by the millions. Project SHIELD is designed to allow them to enjoy
Android and Windows games in a new exciting way. Project
SHIELD can instantly download Android games, including Android-optimized titles available on NVIDIA’s TegraZone™ game store, which has already delivered more than 6 million downloads to gamers. SHIELD
can also be used as a wireless game receiver to a nearby PC equipped with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 GPU or higher. Console-Grade Controller Project SHIELD’s ergonomic
controller was built for the gamer who wants ultimate control and precision. Retinal Gaming Display Brilliant gameplay and video are provided by Project SHIELD’s
integrated 5-inch, 1280x720 HD retinal multitouch display, with 294 dpi. Plus, Tegra 4 with Direct Touch technology gives
it touch responsiveness that is a more consistent, accurate and smooth-flowing touch input experience than a standard touch
device. Tuned Port, Bass Reflex Portable
Speaker System Deep, rich audio is critical for a great gaming experience. And Project SHIELD provides fidelity
and dynamic range never before available on a portable device, through its custom, bass reflex, tuned port audio system –
with twice the low-frequency output of high-end laptops. Project
SHIELD can also access Android apps such as Hulu, Netflix and Slacker Radio, so users can enjoy their movies and music anywhere
without expensive, clumsy wired or wireless speakers. Support
by Leading Industry Analyst Patrick Moorhead, president and lead analyst at Moor Insights & Strategy, said:
"The market has waited years for a breakthrough gaming device that offers the flexibility, quality and total enjoyment
of Project SHIELD. Few companies other than NVIDIA have the vision, guts and deep gaming experience to have pulled this off." Support by Leading Game Developers Leading game developers
expressed strong support for SHIELD. Yves Guillemot,
co-founder and chief executive officer of Ubisoft, said: “Ubisoft is always excited about new hardware developments,
and Project Shield promises to bring both mobile and PC gamers a great new gaming experience. Seeing the PC version of Assassin’s
Creed III run on the device is a great example of this, and further strengthens Ubisoft’s long-standing relationship
with NVIDIA.” Mark Rein, vice president and co-founder
of Epic Games, said: “With Project Shield, NVIDIA brings an uncompromising, high-performance console experience to mobile
devices. Amazing games including 'Real Boxing' and 'Hawken,' which utilize the latest Unreal Engine technology, look fantastic
on Project SHIELD. This is just the beginning, and we're truly excited to see what more Unreal Engine developers will do with
so much horsepower in such a compact gaming device.” Bill
Wagner, chief production officer at Meteor Entertainment, said: “Coming from the openness of a PC platform, we love
how accessible Project SHIELD is, and the flexibility it gives gamers everywhere. Project SHIELD gives us the cutting-edge
ability to bring a huge free-to-play PC game like 'Hawken' to the handheld gaming audience.” More information is available at shield.nvidia.com.
