11/09/2011 - Super Mario 3D Land Time Square Event
THE MUSHROOM KINGDOM GOES 3D IN SUPER MARIO 3D LAND FOR NINTENDO 3DS

First Mario Game for Nintendo 3DS Hand-Held System Launches Nov. 13; Nintendo to Host Interactive Launch Event in Times Square on Nov. 12

REDMOND, Wash., Nov. 9, 2011 - The timeless platforming fun of the Super Mario™ video game franchise expands into a new dimension this holiday season with the Nov. 13 launch of the  Super Mario 3D Land™ game. Created exclusively for the
Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system, this new game places Mario™ and his friends in immersive environments that players can enjoy in true 3D without the need for special glasses. Also introducing power-ups, enemies and the return of Tanooki Mario,  Super Mario 3D Land promises to satisfy series fans, newcomers and holiday gift seekers at a suggested retail price of $39.99 in the United States.

The game's remarkable 3D visuals make it easy for players to judge depth and distance as they run through levels, collecting coins and bumping question blocks in search of interesting power-ups. Abilities such as rolling somersaults and high-speed dash moves add to players' strategic options. Players also can play as Tanooki Mario, using his tail to hover or perform floating jumps and attacks. The game's level design makes use of the Nintendo 3DS system's 3D capabilities; some levels require players to progress from top to bottom, while others challenge them to move forward into the spatial depths of an environment. This is truly the next evolution in Mario game play.

"Mario fans from every generation will love experiencing the Super Mario franchise in true 3D," said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Making your way through the Mushroom Kingdom has never been so immersive, and Nintendo 3DS lets players dive into the action anytime, anywhere. The game is sure to put smiles on lots of faces this holiday season."

New characters in the game include enemy Goombas with tails and Piranha Plants that can spit ink to obscure players' view. In addition to familiar special items such as Fire Flowers and Super Mushrooms, players will find Propeller Blocks that let Mario reach high places and a Boomerang Flower that changes him into Boomerang Mario and enables him to throw boomerangs. Additionally, players can examine parts of some levels by using the Nintendo 3DS system's built-in gyro sensor to pan and explore.

Another unique feature can give players a helping hand when they're having trouble with a tricky level. If a player loses too many lives in a row, an invincible White Tanooki Mario or P-Wing can be activated, giving the player a chance to complete the level without enemy threats. Players can also choose to skip ahead to the end of a tricky stage if they prefer to simply move on. These features are completely optional for gamers who prefer to play through levels without help.

Nintendo Stages Epic Super Mario Celebration in Times Square
On Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., visitors to Military Island in New York's Times Square can join Nintendo for a special interactive  Super Mario 3D Land launch event. For one day only, fans are invited to play inside Mario's 3D world with life-size warp pipes, trampoline coin jumps and a flagpole finale. Attendees can also enjoy live appearances by a Mario costumed character, prize giveaways while supplies last, fun photo backdrops and the chance to play  Super Mario 3D Land before the game launches. Fans are encouraged to dress as Mario or other favorite Mushroom Kingdom characters for the occasion. To help Mario fans take this experience home early, Toys"R"Us Times Square, which is located next to the event site, will offer the game for sale during the event from noon to 2 p.m.

Remember that Nintendo 3DS features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit

11/09/2011 - Atlus Creating Game of Thrones Video Game
ATLUS, IN COLLABORATION WITH HBO® AND CYANIDE STUDIOS, TO PUBLISH "GAME OF THRONES," AN ACTION RPG BASED ON THE BEST-SELLING SERIES OF BOOKS AND HIT TV SHOW, FOR XBOX 360, PLAYSTATION 3, AND PC IN EARLY 2012

Explore and interact with characters and locations from the worldwide fantasy phenomenon!

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA - NOVEMBER 9, 2011 - ATLUS (Index Digital Media, Inc), in collaboration with HBO and Cyanide Studios, today unveiled North American publishing plans for "Game of Thrones™," an action RPG based on the internationally bestselling A Song of Ice and Fire series of books by George R. R. Martin and critically acclaimed HBO television series, Game of Thrones.  Launching worldwide in early 2012, the game will be available for Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, and PC.  With an original story written under the supervision of Martin, "Game of Thrones" promises to deliver the ultimate interactive role-playing experience for fans.  The game is filled with familiar locations straight from the pages of the beloved fantasy saga along with the likeness of some actors portrayed in the series.

With over 15 million books sold worldwide and a hit television adaptation that was the winner of two primetime Emmy® awards, the A Song of Ice and Fire series is one of the most popular fantasy franchises of all time.  Now, with the announcement of an epic new "Game of Thrones" video game, fans will have a chance to not simply read or watch the series, but to take an active role in the new riveting drama as it unfolds.

In this 30-plus hour action RPG, players will enter the gritty and medieval fantasy world of Westeros.  As one of two original characters with disparate motivations, both former soldiers of Robert's Rebellion, players will forge alliances and wage battles as they play a pivotal role in the ongoing war for power of the Seven Kingdoms.  Their journey will span numerous quests, during which they will interact with many characters and make key decisions that impact the realm.

Standing before the majesty and bitter isolation of the Wall or walking through the streets and alleys of King's Landing, players will not simply pass by locations and characters integral to the series; they will explore and interact with them, meeting and learning about the people and history that defines them and their importance.  Key decisions and major events will have meaningful impact on Westeros, allowing the player to witness how the game world evolves over time based on their actions or inactions.  Moreover, "Game of Thrones" introduces an innovative "active slowdown tactical combat engine" in which combat mirrors the series' thoughtful approach to war and politics: fighting slows but never stops entirely, forcing the player to make quick, pressured choices before their enemy strikes again.

"The Game of Thrones television series and the A Song of Ice and Fire book series it is based on represent some of the most captivating, original medieval fantasy and drama ever created," commented Shinichi Suzuki, President and CEO of Index Digital Media, Inc.  "Its amalgam of bitterly antagonistic rival houses, deeply nuanced characters, intricate political machinations, and breathtaking fantasy-all set within a richly storied world-offers unparalleled realism and raw emotion.  We are honored to work with HBO, Cyanide Studios, and the great George R. R. Martin in bringing an exciting action RPG set in this beloved fantasy universe to fans and gamers in early 2012."

"This is a wonderful way for fans to engage with the brand in an exciting and interactive way," stated James Costos, VP of HBO Global Licensing.  "ATLUS and Cyanide are leaders in developing world class games with broad accessibility so the partnership was an ideal fit for us."

"Game of Thrones" is currently scheduled to release in early 2012 for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.  For more information, visit
http://gameofthrones-thegame.com. Expect frequent news updates, content additions, and more between now and the game's release!
