10/27/2011 - Zombie Misfits New Open BetaZombie Misfits: Nexon opens Facebook brain buffet
Zombie Misfits
enters open beta phase on Facebook, available now
Facebook just got a lot more undead
today as Nexon America opens up Zombie Misfits, a cartoon-style apocalyptic tower defense game with an RPG flare. Zombie Misfits,
now officially in its open beta testing phase, is the second title in the leading online game publisher’s portfolio
of Facebook games.
In traditional tower-defense style, players place a series of defender characters, each with
a unique set of mechanics, to guard against waves of brain-craving zombies. To defend themselves against the onslaught, players
are armed with weapons and contraptions that allow them to directly engage in battle. Players must prevent the zombies from
reaching the survivor camp at the end of the map by strategically placing defenders and powering up equipment.
As
players battle through hoards of bloodthirsty zombies they will have the opportunity to strengthen their characters by collecting
currency and salvage, gain attributes, learn new skills and equip stronger gear. A crafting system adds an even stronger RPG
aspect to the game as players gather ingredients to make contraptions, which can be used to assist defenders. Additionally,
through the Facebook platform, players will be able to interact with their army of friends by calling for help for those particularly
pesky post-dead. Players will be able to gift each other with a defender from their arsenal, which includes all level up bonuses
and mods that are applied to that defender.
Zombie Misfits will also feature a cash shop which lets players
use Facebook Credits to purchase items that enhance their gaming experience. Additional support, including in-game content
and new cash shop items, will continually be added to the game throughout its open beta phase.
“Zombie Misfits
joins MapleStory Adventures as yet another demonstration of Nexon’s expertise in bringing premium gaming experiences
to the widest audience possible,” said Daniel Kim, CEO of Nexon America. “With Zombie Misfits, Nexon is making
significant strides in advancing the social platform, marking itself as a true leader and innovator in the social gaming territory.”
Zombie Misfits is co-developed by Canadian-based studio Antic Entertainment. Nexon chose Antic to receive funding
and support through the 2010 Nexon Initiative, which awards visionary video game projects that align with the company’s
focus on building community and encourages long-term user engagement.
