07/14/2011- Ubisoft Reveals Comic-Con Line Up
UBISOFT® REVEALS LINEUP FOR COMIC-CON

SAN FRANCISCO – July 14th, 2011 –Today, Ubisoft® announced its plans for Comic-Con International: San Diego on July 20–24, 2011. The company will feature the first public demos of Just Dance® 3 and Rabbids®: Alive & Kicking. In addition, Ubisoft will demo Rayman® Origins, and host an exclusive panel for Assassin’s Creed® Revelations on July 23, 2011.

Located in the Exhibit Hall at #4245, Ubisoft’s booth will feature a special stage for consumers to get down with Just Dance3, the latest iteration of America’s favorite dance game, which will be available on all platforms this fall, and Rabbids: Alive & Kicking, a zany, wild and humorous collection of mini games the whole family can enjoy. Booth visitors also will have an opportunity to play Rayman Origins for the first time before the game’s release later this year. Rayman Origins is a high-definition 2-D side-scrolling platforming adventure featuring full 4-player co-op. Additionally, Rayman Origins fans can win a free T-shirt by checking in on Facebook at the Rayman Origins billboard at 6th Avenue & F Street, in the Gaslamp quarter, and then claim their prize at Ubisoft’s booth. Other prizes will be given away at the booth, including special pre-order discounts and incentives on the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations and Just Dance 3 releases.

In addition to Ubisoft’s booth, Ubisoft is teaming with Break Media and NBC star Zachary Levi's company The Nerd Machine to build out a "Nerd HQ" in downtown San Diego, from July 21-24.  At the “Nerd HQ,” fans will gather to celebrate nerd culture and will have the chance to play Rayman Origins.

Finally, on Saturday, July 23, from 3–4 p.m. in Room 25ABC, the writers behind Assassin’s Creed Revelations will discuss and answer questions about the thrilling fourth installment in the critically acclaimed entertainment franchise during the “Assassin’s Creed: The Creation of a Universe” panel. The panel will explore how the Ubisoft Montreal development team has created the Assassin’s Creed universe, which weaves real world history and global conspiracies into an ancient war between Assassins and Templars across a variety of media. Attendees will be treated to a behind-the-scenes look at how Ezio’s final journey will unfold as he walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altair, on a perilous journey of doubt and discovery. Additionally, attendees will get to watch an exclusive preview of the animated short film Assassin’s Creed Embers. Panelists will include the creators of the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Revelations game, animated short film and comic. Adam Sessler, host of G4TV’s X-Play, will moderate the panel.

07/13/2011 - 7-Eleven Stores Selling Portable Game Systems
7-Eleven Stores Selling Portable Game Systems, Video Games, DVDs and Bluray

Newswire/7_11_game_system.jpg

Recently we made a unique discovery at 7-Eleven. While paying a visit to our local 7-Eleven for their annual "Free Slurpee Day" we found something new in the video game and dvd section. This particular store (located on Hollywood Blvd) had a small selection of pre-wrapped portable video game systems. This includes the two systems you see here, along with a number of different LCD based games. The other LCD games included the standard handheld Black Jack, Poker, and Solitaire games, along with a Sports Trivia game system. However the two that stood out the most were the two you see here.

The AGP (Advanced Video Game Player) comes in two separate models. First, there is the AGP2, which is slightly reminiscent of the GameBoy Micro. Next we have the second model, the AGPX, which looks somewhat like the Nintendo DS. (Only with one screen.) Both systems come with the same selection of games. They also come packaged with several small, game carts. The original model even has multiple cartridge ports.

Text Reads: "8 Expecting Games in 4 Cartridges"

Now unfortunately upon closer examination the games for these two systems are extremely poor quality titles. They might remind you of those PRO600 Calculator + Game System that were commonly available in the late 1990s. However, since we love gadgets, and since we know we have many collectors in our audience, we thought we would bring these unique items to your attention. The AGPX might be of interest to collectors, and its certainly the better model of the two systems. All of the portable game systems were priced at $10 each.

For those of you who don't already know, 7-Eleven stores have been selling new and used video games for the past year. The chain has also recently started to carry new and used DVDs and Bluray discs. Prices can range from fair to mildly over priced. (This is 7-Eleven after all.) Used games are slightly above what you might find in your local game store. However, there are some deals to be found, and since selection varies by store, you can find a unique or rare game burried in the mix.
