WHA ENTERTAINMENT, INC. LAUNCHES KICK-ASS FOR SONY PLAYSTATION® NETWORK (PSN)

The Action-Packed Game Based On The Motion Picture Is Now Available Via Sony Download

New York, N.Y. April 29, 2010 - WHA Entertainment, a publisher and developer of entertainment games based on leading IP Franchises, announced today that Kick-Ass has launched in the U.S. and Canada for the Sony PlayStation Network (PSN) for an MSRP of $14.99. The game is rated M for Mature by the ESRB. Additionally, WHA Entertainment confirmed that the superhero action game will launch in Europe (U.K.) on Wednesday, May 5th.

"Kick-Ass is all about non-stop superhero action, and now everyone who enjoyed the movie at the theater and fans of the comic book can become a super hero in their own living space," said Howard Horowitz, Founder and CEO of WHA Entertainment, Inc. "Who wouldn't want to play as Kick-Ass, Big Daddy and Hit Girl, the three super heroes based on the previous weeks' # 1 movie in the U.S."

Kick-Ass is a fully 3D action fighting game set in the third-person perspective, where the player can play and control modern day super heroes based on the storyline of the movie. Gamers will be able to play as the three primary characters in the film - Kick-Ass, Hit Girl, and Big Daddy. The story-driven game draws heavily from the strengths of the intellectual property; an action combat game where the characters finally grow sick of the crime around them, and decide that they will do something about it.

Featuring multiple environments within New York City, players will be faced with twelve story missions including 2 bonus rounds and encounter frantic super hero action as they face petty thugs and powerful mob bosses, eventually bringing down Frank D'Amico. Players will also have a blast with sub-missions and mini-games, to add even more gameplay to the mix. Staying true to the intellectual property, the game will feature visceral combat and plenty of gore, as the player's main goal is to bring justice back to the city, no matter what the cost! The final mission ratchets up the action to an entirely new dimension, when players pilot the already-legendary jet pack from the movie's climactic final battle scene. Cut loose with twin Gatling guns, cutting down enemies in a barrage of hot lead and shattered glass - but don't forget to keep moving, or you'll be blown out of the sky in a hail of return fire and bazooka shells!

Featuring multiplayer local co-op gameplay, Kick-Ass brings an unsurpassed integration of missions given via friend requests from the FACESPACE social networking site. Bonus points also unlock the complete first issue of the Kick Ass comic book. Many additional Kick Ass game features to play and become a superhero!

A Message From The Able Gamers Foundation:
How much do you know about accessibility and video games?

Able_Gamers_Logo.jpg

Hey AbleGamers,

This is Mark Barlet, President and CEO of the AbleGamers Foundation, I wanted to share with an event that AGF is hosting next month in Boston Mass. Chances are you are one of the millions of people worldwide dealing with a chronic, or lifelong, even a temporary disability there is a chance you know a lot about videogame accessibility. This includes knowing that many games aren't as accessible as they should be. With videogames becoming an even bigger part of most people's lives, including for work and their own health, videogame accessibility is still not getting the attention it requires.

Games Accessibility Day, now in its third year, is one of several efforts aimed at improving dialogue and best practices around the creation and adaptation of all videogames for people with chronic, lifelong, or temporary disabilities including both physical, and cognitive disabilities. Games Accessibility Day is scheduled & produced by the Games for Health Project which is supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Pioneer Portfolio.  Critical assistance and partnership for the day is provided by the AbleGamers Foundation and the Serious Games Initiative. This single-track conference now covers a wide swath of information useful to developers, researchers, those who work with people with disabilities, and more.

Attending Games Accessibility Day is a great way to get up-to-speed on the resources, best practices, and key needs necessary to make better games in general as well as for people with specific disabilities that might prevent them from fully enjoying a videogame, or even accessing it to begin with. As games move from being just consumer entertainment to efforts for learning, health, corporate training, and more - there is far less wiggle room for ignoring the engineering and design requirements to make a game as accessible as possible.

Some day we will have the tools, knowledge, and capabilities to make every game far more accessible then they often are.

Breaking News:
Supreme Court decision on Video Games

Video_Game_Voters.gif

The Supreme Court announced today that it plans to hear arguments on the California law regulating computer and video games. We believe that the protections already afforded to books, films, music and other forms of popular entertainment should apply equally to computer and video games.

The restrictions proposed by the State of California are unconstitutional and do nothing more than take away the rights of individuals to make their own choices. We believe parents -- not the government or industry -- should be the ones to decide what games are appropriate for their children.

Share this news with your friends. Let them know their rights are in danger.

http://www.videogamevoters.org/share

More government regulations aren't the answer for video game sales. After all, ESRB already provides the best ratings system in the entertainment industry. We believe that the government's efforts should focus on a greater understanding and use of this ratings system.

We have won our battles against unconstitutional attempts to regulate our industry in 12 other courts around the country. Now, we have the chance to make this argument to the highest court in the land on behalf of our industry. We must strengthen our movement to make sure our voices are heard and our rights protected, or our rights could be in peril.

It's time to join together. Tell your friends about today's news and urge them to stand with us.

http://www.videogamevoters.org/share

It will take all of us coming together to continue to win these battles against computer and video game opponents and send an enduring message that government regulations of computer and video games are unconstitutional. Thanks for your help!

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games
 Episode One Details Revealed

'City of the Daleks' will be the first time the Doctor ventures to Kaalann, the Dalek capital city; available to download on 5th June 2010

April 22nd 2010: The secrets of the world exclusive trailer which aired at the end of 'Victory of the Daleks' (BBC One, Saturday 6.15pm) can now be revealed, as the BBC unveils the first details of its episodic games which form part of the current series of Doctor Who.

City of the Daleks is the first of four new adventures which take the form of downloadable computer games available for PC and Mac. This first episode will be available for free download from
www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho on June 5th 2010.

The TARDIS materializes in 1963 - and London is in ruins. The Daleks have seized control of time and the only chance of saving Earth lies in a desperate quest to Skaro, the Daleks' home planet - before time catches up with Amy, the last survivor of the human race!

Written by Phil Ford (Doctor Who: Dreamland; Sarah Jane Adventures) and executive produced by Steven Moffat, episode one of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games is full of the TV show's celebrated mix of action, peril and humour. Players will help the Doctor and Amy on an epic new adventure in an original story which forms part of the current series, traversing time and space in a dazzling episode.

'City of the Daleks' features the new breed of Daleks which premiered on television in Saturday's 'Victory of the Daleks'. Nicholas Briggs provides the voice of the Daleks, alongside Matt Smith and Karen Gillan who recreate their roles as the Doctor and Amy.

"This is quite a series opener," says Phil Ford, writer, Doctor Who. "We destroy London even before the credits role - so you can only begin to imagine where we travel to from there. City of the Daleks is as big-budget as you can imagine: from London we head to Kaalann, the capital city of the Daleks, one constructed from pure anger and hate. And these new Daleks don't like to be messed with, so players are about to enjoy a new interactive episode which is as heart-pulsing as anything you've seen before."

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games has been produced by a team drawing on the very best talent from TV and gaming. The interactive episodes are executive produced by Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis and Anwen Aspden (BBC Wales Interactive), alongside Charles Cecil, one of videogaming's most revered creators. The games are being developed by Sumo Digital, one of the UK's best game designers. Stories and scripts are from Phil Ford and James Moran (Severance, Torchwood Children of Earth). The project has been commissioned forBBC Online by the Vision Multiplatform team, headed up by Simon Nelson, and is being driven by BBC Wales Interactive.

Doctor Who: The Adventure Games 'City of the Daleks' will be available to download for free from the Doctor Who website (
www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho) from June 5th 2010, for both PC and Mac users.

NETFLIX NOW AVAILABLE ON NINTENDO'S WII CONSOLE

Now Wii Owners Can Use One System for Movie & Game Night

REDMOND, Wash., and LOS GATOS, Calif., April 12, 2010 - Nintendo of America Inc. and Netflix, Inc. [Nasdaq: NFLX] today announced that Netflix members who own Nintendo's Wii™ home console can now enjoy thousands of movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix via Wii. The two companies announced partnership plans in January and are making Netflix on the Wii console fully available as of today.

Streaming from Netflix via the Wii console is provided at no additional cost to Netflix members who have a plan starting at $8.99 a month, a Wii console and a broadband Internet connection.

The partnership between the two companies dramatically increases the reach of content streamed from Netflix. Wii remains the fastest-selling home console in history. Wii now reaches more consumers than any other device that currently supports streaming movies from Netflix, which had 12.3 million members at the end of 2009.

The launch of Netflix on Wii gives people the opportunity to gather with friends and family for a movie and game night. Everyone can join in the fun of a few heated rounds of Wii Sports Resort™ bowling before loading up a movie. When the movie's over, everyone can try out some table tennis - all on the same Wii console. The addition of Netflix streaming to the Wii console's already wide range of capabilities makes it even more appealing for group enjoyment.

"More than 28 million people already use the Wii console to play games, stay fit and have fun," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime. "Now they have another reason to use the system every day - to enjoy great movies from Netflix and other video content."

"Launching Netflix on the Wii home console marks a significant advance in the evolution of our service," said Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings. "Wii has created immense consumer excitement and has meaningfully altered the consumer electronics landscape. Bringing Netflix to Wii catapults us toward our goal of being ubiquitous on the connected devices most popular with consumers."

Netflix continues to expand the ways in which its members can watch movies and TV shows streamed directly to TVs via a range of Netflix-ready devices such as the Wii console. With unlimited memberships starting as low as $8.99 a month, members can instantly watch unlimited movies and TV episodes streamed from Netflix and can also receive unlimited DVDs delivered quickly to their homes. In parallel, consumers continue to demonstrate a preference for Wii consoles and the great value they offer in fun games and shared experiences at a suggested retail price of just $199.99. Wii is the only video game system currently available with motion controls, which are included with the system at no extra charge.

To enable their systems to stream TV shows and movies from Netflix, Wii owners will need a broadband Internet connection, a Netflix unlimited membership and a Netflix instant streaming disc for the Wii console. Netflix members and Wii console owners can now receive a free instant streaming disc by going to
www.netflix.com/wii. The discs will be delivered for free by first-class mail, generally one business day after they are requested.

When the instant streaming disc is inserted into a member's Wii system, an array of movie and TV choices will be displayed right on the TV screen. These titles will be conveniently organized into a variety of categories based on members' personal preferences and will include popular genres, new arrivals and members' individual instant Queues. Using the Wii Remote™ controller, members will be able to choose a movie or TV episode to watch from their instant Queues or pick one directly from any of the lists. They will also have the ability to read synopses, rate movies, and will have the option of fast-forwarding and rewinding their selection.

The Netflix functionality adds another dimension to the Wii console's diverse online features. With broadband Internet access, the Wii console gains access to a variety of entertainment, information and communication channels that add value to the system and make it a device the entire family can enjoy. For instance, Wii owners of all types can find great games from among hundreds of downloadable new and classic titles with Wii Points™ from the Wii Shop Channel. Or surf the Internet on the big screen via the Internet Channel, watch videos about new and upcoming games on the Nintendo Channel, and play specially designed games online with friends near and far.

Remember that Wii features parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other Wii features, visit Wii.com.

Video Games and the Supreme Court

Video_Game_Voters.gif

Soon, the U.S. Supreme Court may decide whether to hear a case that could have a lasting impact on computer and video games.

The case before the Court involves a law passed by the state of California attempting to criminalize the sale of certain computer and video games. Two previous courts rejected the California law as unconstitutional, but soon the Supreme Court could have the final say.

Whatever the Court's ruling, we must be prepared to continue defending our rights now and in the future. To do so, we need a large, powerful movement of gamers to speak with one voice and show that we won't sit back while lawmakers try to score political points by scapegoating video games and treating them differently than books, movies, and music.

If the Court decides to hear the case, we're going to need thousands of activists like you who can help defend computer and video games by writing letters to editors, calling into talk radio stations, and educating Americans about our passion for and appreciation of computer and video games.

You can help build this movement right now by inviting all your friends and fellow gamers to join the Video Game Voters Network.

Use our simple tool to send an email to everyone you know asking them to stand up for gaming rights:

http://videogamevoters.org/movement

You can also help spread the word through Facebook and Twitter, or you can simply forward this email to everyone you know and ask them to sign up at videogamevoters.org.

Time after time, courts continue to reject politicians' efforts to restrict the sale of computer and video games. But that doesn't mean the politicians will stop trying anytime soon -- in fact, it means they're likely to ramp up their efforts even more.

To stop them, we must make it clear that gamers will continue to stand up for free speech -- and that the numbers are on our side.

Help make sure we're ready and able to keep fighting for our gaming rights. Spread the word about the Video Game Voters Network right now:

http://videogamevoters.org/movement

Thank you.

NEWS FROM THE ESA:
COMPUTER AND VIDEO GAMES PROMOTE HEALTHY KIDS

webassets/esa.jpg

Childhood obesity rates in America have tripled over the past three decades; nearly one in three American children is overweight or obese today. In an attempt to combat this growing issue, our nation’s leaders are now turning to video game technology.

On March 10, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) launched the Apps for Healthy Kids Challenge, a competition designed to create innovative, fun, engaging games that encourage children and teenagers to eat healthier as well as participate in more physical activity. Part of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! campaign, the challenge is calling on entrepreneurs, software developers and students to create new software applications based on the recently-released MyPyramid data set, which provides information on the nutrition content of food along with the USDA’s recommended dietary guidelines.

Just days following the announcement of the challenge, U.S. Chief Technology Officer Aneesh Chopra delivered the First Lady’s message by video to 17,000 video game developers attending the 10th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards in San Francisco. The address encouraged game developers to utilize their talents and participate in the competition.

Designers will compete for $40,000 in cash prizes. The first set of prizes will recognize digital games that best engage and motivate kids to eat healthy and be active, while the second set of prizes will recognize tools that will enable parents to make healthier choices for their families.

ESA’s President and CEO Michael D. Gallagher will serve as a judge of the challenge alongside Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple, Inc.; Mark Pincus, CEO of Zynga Game Network, Inc.; and Michael Levine, executive director of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop. The four-judge panel will evaluate the competition entries beginning in July 2010. Winners will be honored at a White House event late this summer.

“The use of games to promote healthy living is a true testament to the increasingly important role that computer and video games are playing in our society. I am proud that the entertainment software industry was selected to participate in this competition,” said Gallagher.

“Today, computer and video games are serving as useful tools and teaching devices to impart knowledge, develop life skills and reinforce positive habits in people of all ages.”
