Just Cause 2 Demo Release Date Announced
Massive freeroaming demo planned for hotly anticipated action sequel
Friday, February 26th... Square Enix London Studios, a part of Square Enix Europe, today announced an incredible, action-packed demo for the hotly anticipated freeroaming action game Just Cause 2 will release on March 4th, 2010.

Available for PlayStation® 3  computer entertainment system,  Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PC, the Just Cause 2 demo will feature a massive 35 square miles of the Lautan Lama Desert, a vast expanse of stunning, sun-scorched scenery taking up just one of the many islands in the 400 square miles of the Panau archipelago. Packed with towns, villages, military installations, mountain ranges, missions and more, the demo will feature an astonishing amount of activities for the player... and opportunities for adrenaline-fuelled chaos are limitless.

Hunt down and assassinate one of the game’s 50 military colonels; devastate military bases, bio fuel chambers, government infrastructure and more; hijack tuk tuks, military 4x4s, armoured vehicles, mopeds, helicopter gunships, light aircraft, mini vans and numerous other military and civilian vehicles; freefall from desert outcrops or from burning planes at 20,000 feet; and unlock one full, multi-stage mission, traversing the mountains to a heavily fortified government radar station and ending in an unforgettable desert car chase.

“The Just Cause 2 demo is simply massive and with so much to do, the replay value is enormous,” said Lee Singleton, General Manager of Square Enix London Studios. “It’s easily one of the biggest freeroaming demos of all time and for fans of openworld games, it’s unmissable.”

The Just Cause 2 demo will be available March 4th, 2010, on PlayStation®Network, Xbox LIVE® Marketplace and Steam.

As Rico Rodriguez, the Agency's most powerful weapon, players must take on the island of Panau and its military regime in order to track down Rico's former boss and mentor, Tom Sheldon, who has gone rogue with millions in Agency cash and intel. Using a unique grapple and parachute combination, there is no vertical limit as the air becomes your playground: grapple a passing plane in flight, hijack helicopters, BASE jump from the tallest buildings or mountains and leave a trail of chaos and destruction in your wake. Just Cause 2 offers players the freedom to tackle missions any way they choose and, with over 100 vehicles and countless upgrades and collectibles, the choices for relentless adrenaline-fuelled action are limitless.

Just Cause 2 will be available for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Games for Windows® and will be released under the EIDOS brand portfolio. All formats will release in-stores on March 23rd, 2010, in North America and March 26th, 2010, in Europe, Middle East, and Australasia. More information is available on the official website at

NINTENDO REVEALS SOFTWARE LINEUP FOR THE FIRST HALF OF 2010

Nintendo Announces Launch Dates for Nintendo DSi XL,Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M
  • Super Mario Galaxy™ 2, the sequel to the smash-hit galaxy-hopping original game, launches May 23 for the Wii™ console. The game includes the amazing gravity-defying, physics-based exploration from the first game, but is loaded with entirely new galaxies and features to challenge and delight players. On some stages, Mario™ can pair up with his dinosaur buddy Yoshi™ and use his tongue to grab items and spit them back at enemies. Players can also have fun with new items such as a drill that lets our hero tunnel through solid rock.

  • Metroid™: Other M, the incredible new Metroid game developed for Wii through a collaboration by Nintendo and the world-renowned Team Ninja, launches June 27. The game looks at the classic franchise from a new perspective: While much of the game is reminiscent of 2-D side-scrollers, players can switch the perspective into 3-D at any time as they explore the twisting passages of a derelict space station and delve deep into a cinematic, never-before-told story of bounty hunter Samus Aran's past. This new approach uses a new control scheme in which players use the Wii Remote™ controller held sideways to battle enemies and navigate the expansive, gorgeous environments in classic Metroid fashion, then aim at the screen with the Wii Remote pointer to blast foes in first-person and hunt the world for clues and hidden passages.

  • In a unique partnership with Square-Enix, Nintendo of America will publish Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies in the Americas when the game arrives in summer 2010. Dragon Quest IX has sold more than 4.15 million copies in the Japanese market. Nintendo and Square-Enix will now work together to bring this title to the Nintendo DS consumer base in the Americas.

  • Capcom's Monster Hunter® Tri, an epic action game for Wii, launches in the United States on April 20. The game lets players customize their character, armor and weapons in order to protect a town from majestic monsters as that town rebuilds following a devastating earthquake. Online play will be available for all players with broadband Internet access at no additional cost. Online text chat is fully functional and online voice chat is enabled using the Wii Speak™ microphone, which is sold separately. At a suggested retail price of $59.99, limited quantities of Monster Hunter Tri will include the new Black Classic Controller Pro™, while both Black and White versions of the controller will be available separately at a suggested retail price of $19.99. The game will also be available without a controller at a suggested retail price of $49.99.

  • Sin and Punishment: Star Successor, the breakthrough shooter game for Wii from legendary developer Treasure, will launch across North America on June 7. The game features nonstop action with two playable characters and international online leaderboards to track high scores. Using the Wii Remote pointer functionality, the game offers unprecedented precision in the shooter genre.

  • FlingSmash™ for Wii will test players' Wii Remote skills as they bounce a ball-like hero through countless side-scrolling stages, combining the precision of racket sports with the unpredictable fun of pinball. Playable only with the Wii MotionPlus™ accessory, the game will launch this summer.

  • Picross 3D is poised to become a puzzle game phenomenon when it launches for the Nintendo DS family of products on May 3. In Picross 3D, players start with a cube and smash away smaller blocks to reveal an object, shape or symbol. Delivering more than 350 unique puzzles and more made available for download on a regular basis after launch via the Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection service (broadband Internet access required), the game takes the mind-bending fun of Picross into the next dimension.

  • 100 Classic Books transforms the Nintendo DS family of products into a library of timeless literature when it launches on June 14 at a suggested retail price of $19.99, highlighted by 100 works from authors such as William Shakespeare, Jules Verne, Jane Austen, Mark Twain and more. Readers can adjust the size of text, place bookmarks and even download new content via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service (broadband Internet connection required).

  • Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands™ from Ubisoft will launch May 18 on both the Wii and Nintendo DS platforms. Boasting amazing graphics with fantastic action and puzzle-solving game play, the Wii version will be the first in franchise history to feature a two-player cooperative experience. As an added bonus, the Wii version of the game will exclusively include the 1992 Super NES™ version of the original Prince of Persia game.

  • Disney Guilty Party is the official title of the highly anticipated first collaboration between Disney Interactive Studios and its recently acquired studio, Wideload Games. The fun and hilarious mystery party game is set for release in the second half of 2010, exclusively for Wii.

  • Majesco's Nintendo DSi exclusive Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal uses incredible augmented reality technology through the Nintendo DSi Camera. Launching this October, the game lets players become a ghost hunter as they interact with the paranormal.

Nintendo also announced a variety of games available to download directly to the Wii console from the Wii Shop Channel via the WiiWare™ service, and directly to the Nintendo DS via the DSi Shop and DSiWare™ services. For WiiWare:

  • Launching on March 1, Capcom's Mega Man™ 10 builds upon the huge impact of Mega Man 9, a completely new adventure rendered in classic 8-bit style. This new game looks and sounds as awesomely retro as its predecessor.

  • Launching on March 8, Max & the Magic Marker from Press Play turns the Wii Remote into an orange magic marker that's literally magic. Players draw lines and objects to help Max reach objects and his ultimate goal.

  • The long-awaited indie cult classic Cave Story comes to WiiWare with new game play, artwork and music enhancements on March 22. It's classic gaming reborn for 2010.

  • Launching on March 29, WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase is a standalone product exclusive to the WiiWare service and available only from the Wii Shop Channel. The game contains more than 70 new microgames and features interoperability with the WarioWare: D.I.Y. game for the Nintendo DS family of products. Players that own both games can transfer content between the two via a local wireless connection, and can even play user-created microgames on their television using WarioWare: D.I.Y. Showcase.

  • As the techno music pulses, Nintendo's Art Style™: light trax™ puts players in charge of a white beam of light as it engages in a surreal race against other beams across a dark track. Players must keep away from obstacles, use items and look for power boosts if they want to finish first. Art Style: light trax launches this spring.

  • Swim and spin through the primordial ooze in Nintendo's Art Style: Rotozoa™ as you absorb tiny organisms that match the colors of your tentacles. As you absorb more organisms, your tentacles grow. The challenge increases as additional tentacles are gained, but power-ups can help you survive and thrive. Art Style: Rotozoa launches this spring.

  • Launching this spring, Rage of the Gladiator from Ghostfire Games is an intense fighting game that asks players to perfect their well-timed moves against an array of opponents. The game is compatible with the Wii MotionPlus accessory.

  • Launching this spring, And Yet It Moves from Broken Rules requires players to rotate the world to help their line-drawn protagonist progress. Walls become floors and floors become ceilings in this surreal twist on the platformer genre.

  • Launching this summer, Independent Games Festival Seumas McNally Grand Prize Finalist Super Meat Boy from Team Meat sets a cube of meat off on an adventure to save Princess Bandage. This off-the-wall game is not for the faint of heart.

For Nintendo DSiWare:

  • Nintendo's Photo Dojo™ is poised to be the cult hit of 2010 when it launches this spring. The game first asks players to pose for 13 pictures and input 10 sound effects. Once that's done, the player becomes the main character in a hilarious side-scrolling fighting game. Create up to eight characters and do battle alone or against a friend on a single Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL system.

  • Launching this spring, Nintendo's Metal Torrent™ delivers a frantic barrage of gunfire that fills the screen. Players try to convert opponents' bullets into cubes that, when collected, increase their score and fill an energy meter that powers special weapons. Online Leaderboards record scores and movies of top games.

  • Launching this spring, X-Scape™ from Nintendo immerses players in an exploratory adventure involving more than 20 planets. Players will pilot their tank through 3-D tunnels, fire at enemies and even battle ancient weapons that resemble giant robots.

"Nintendo finished 2009 with a bang, and we're continuing our momentum into 2010," said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America's executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "With Nintendo DSi XL, Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M coming in the first six months of the year, we're making sure all our fans have great game content to enjoy year-round." Remember that Wii and Nintendo DSi feature parental controls that let adults manage the content their children can access. For more information about this and other features, visit www.Nintendo.com.

New Valentine’s Day Content Added To Dungeon Fighter Online

Dungeon Fighter Online is calling on all Dungeon Fighters to save Valentine’s Day in the Land of Arad. Monsters have run off with all of the Valentine gifts prepared by Seria and it’s up to all of the Dungeon Fighters to return them to her.

The Dungeons of Love quest sends Dungeon Fighters into battle and those who acquire 20 Valentine’s Day Boxes can return them to Seria for special Valentine’s Day loot. These items include Dark Ganache and Cherry Cordial, which offer restorative power and temporarily increase players’ strength or intelligence. Players will also secure an Event Megaphone, which sends a message to all players in your current server. This temporary item will be available for 14 days after obtaining it.

Players can also take part in a repeatable quest which offers one Dark Ganache or one Cherry Cordial for 10 Valentine’s Gift Boxes.

Two new megaphones are also available in the Item Shop. The Megaphone sends a message to all players in the current channel while the Echo Megaphone sends a message to all players in the current server.

Players will also have the chance to purchase new Advanced Avatar sets, which bring out the animal in Dungeon Fighters. Each class has the opportunity to purchase a wild animal costume. Slayers can become bears. Fighters can dress up as foxes. Gunners become giraffes. Mages dress up as cats and Priests suit up as a lions.

Cheap Wii Accessories Flood into Big Lots Stores

Big_Lots_Wii_Accessories.gif

Recently Big Lots stores across the country have been receiving massive shipments of inexpensive Wii accessories and peripherals. This includes controller add-ons, like the ones you see pictured above, nunchuck controllers, and Wii Balance Board Accessories. We decided to hit the streets to see what we could find. After checking stores in both California and NY we discovered a ton of different merchandise. As you can see from the picture above, we came back with quite a haul.  Most items range in price from $5 to $10, with a few larger items in the $15 to $20 range. Almost all the items you see are compatible with Nintendo's Wii Motion+ Accessory.

It should be noted that we found different quantities and a varied selection of items at each Big Lots store. As always, your personal experience may vary. We were also informed that stores are still receiving new product shipments every week. Be sure to check back often just in case you don't find what you're looking for.

Pictured Above:

Baseball Bat (Safe/Foam Version, Not Pictured: Standard Plastic Version)
Golf Club
Magnum Gun
Tennis Racket (Safe/Foam Version, Not Pictured: Standard Plastic Version)
Wii Sports Resort: Bow and Arrow Set
Wii Sports Resort: Frisbee
Wii Sports Resort: Jet Ski Handlebar Set
Wii Sports Resort: Paddle (Boat Oar)

Resident_Evil_Shot_Blaster.gif

Here's something that might be of interest to collectors. We found this item at the Big Lots Store in Troy, NY. Its the Resident Evil Shot Blaster. Not only is this gun a neat collectors item but it also functions very well. Its a surprisingly tight little gun controller that works extremely well with Capcom's two Resident Evil light gun games. The package includes a Thumb Stick Cap and a Wii Controller Skin. This is one item we don't expect to last very long. The price is $15.

Here is a list of every item we found in all the various stores on our journey. As you can see, there is an enourmous selection of unique and interesting products.

Wii Accessories:

3-in-1 Wii Shotgun (Pistol Grip, Rifle, Scoped)
3-in-1 Sports Kit (Tennis Racket, Baseball Bat, Golf Club)
Biggest Loser Dumbell Set
Biggest Loser Fitness Cord
Biggest Loser Jump Rope
Biggest Loser Wrist and Ankle Weight Set
Controller Charge Pack (2 Rechargable Wii Controller Packs w/ Docking Station)
Fishing Pole Kit
Gladiator Kit (2 Swords and Shield)
Ping Pong Paddle Set (Red & Blue)
Shotgun Controller Shell (Version 2: Duck Hunting Style)
Steering Wheel
Wii Balance Board Charge Pack (USB Powered Rechargable Battery)
Wii Balance Board Aerobics Step Platoform
Wii Bowling Ball Shell (By CTA Digital. See It In Action HERE.)
Wii Boxing Gloves
Wii Fitness Mat
Wii Controller and Nunchuck Skins (Rubber, Assorted Colors)
Wii Sharp Shooter Gun Shell (Different from Magnum Version, Much Larger)
Wii Skateboard Accessories (for use with Wii Balance Board)
Wii Sports Resort Accessory Set: Jetski, Frisbee, Red & Blue Swords
Wii Sports Resort: Basketball Shell

Wii Controllers:

Wi-Li_Nunchuck.gifWii_Shockwave_Controller.gif

Nunchuck Accessory (iConcepts "Wii-Li Controller") $10
Wireless Wii/GameCube Shockwave Controller $20*
(*editors note: this item may be of interest to those looking for a good wavebird clone.)

Overall we had a lot of fun with all of our new Wii accessories. The Magnum Gun is surprisingly good. Its also half the price of Nyko's popular "Perfect Shot." The Tennis Rackets were very fun. Although you need to play in a large room otherwise you're in for trouble. Still the effect is solid and it really adds to the fantasy / immersion of playing Wii sports.  The Boat Paddles were also a big hit with our friends and family.

New User Interface Enhances Gaming Experience In Combat Arms

Combat Arms will unveil an updated user interface in its planned content update, which is scheduled for Wednesday. The popular multiplayer online first-person shooter launched in Fall 2008 and has added multiple maps, game modes and dozens of new weapons and items. These updates help Combat Arms continue to offer the three-million-plus registered soldiers a great free-to-play gaming experience.

To help gamers enjoy a more streamlined experience, Nexon America has refreshed the user interface to accommodate the growing inventory and options. This new UI is designed to support the hundreds of weapons, gear, mercenaries and additional items offered in Combat Arms.

Three primary points of emphasis in this update is its new, modern look, an improved Shop experience and enhancements to the weapon modification page.

The new look offers a more modern and industrial look to the various loading, shop, modification and prep pages in Combat Arms. Players will notice the new look and several additions made to increase usability in the shop, including the following:

  • Search Function: Now it will be easier than ever to find your favorite weapon and quickly re-outfit between matches.
  • New item categorization: Find and filter items in a snap. Want to just see Shotguns? No problem.
  • Multiple sorting options:  Players will now have the option to sort by Name, Type, Price, or Rank.
  • Easier navigation: The new top of the page tab navigation makes it easier than ever to get where you want to go.
  • All items in one place: Now all weapons and items are present in one integrated shop.  No need to switch back and forth between the GP Shop and the Black Market in order to see the entire arsenal of weapons available in Combat Arms.
  • Chat window added in the shop: Now, players can stay connected to the conversation while outfitting for the next match.
  • More items displayed per page and easier scrolling: There’s no more clicking through pages and pages of items.  Scroll through our hundreds of items with ease.
Players will also have an easier time modifying weapons with these several additions:
  • A listing of weapons in the player’s inventory:  This makes it much easier to see at a glance all the weapons and the types of modifications offered for each individual weapon.
  • Chat window added: Don’t miss out on lobby conversations while personalizing your weapons.
  • At-a-glance listings: This makes things easier for you to check both your modifications inventory and the modification shop.
  • More items displayed per page with easy scrolling; No more clicking through pages and pages of items to find what you need.
Combat Arms is always available to play for free and download at http://combatarms.nexon.net. To see the game in action, check out videos at YouTube and join the ranks on Facebook.

Combat Arms Update Offers New Game Mode, “Last Man Standing”

Nexon America uploaded its latest update today to the popular multiplayer online first-person shooter, Combat Arms, offering a new game mode, “Last Man Standing,” new weapons, new gear, a new user interface and a redesigned version of Quarantine Mode. Nexon has released a gameplay video of Last Man Standing to highlight the action and intensity of this exciting feature.

Combat Arms is free to download and free to play.

Players who want to show off their combat skills will quickly engage into “Last Man Standing,” which leaves every soldier on their own. Last Man Standing is available on 14 different maps and up to 16 soldiers can compete in games of three, five, seven or nine rounds. Each round begins with all players trying to remain the last standing and end when there is one soldier remaining.

Players will also enjoy a redesigned version of Quarantine Mode, which first delivered zombies to Combat Arms. In Quarantine Mode: Regen, infected players begin with fewer hit points with which to survive but the Infected can recover hit points by remaining stationary for three seconds. The number of Host Infections (those who start a match infected) has been adjusted so the battle between Humans and the Infected will truly be a fight to remember.

Soldiers can acquire some great new gear and weapons as well. The new M39 EMR Desert sniper rifle is delivered just in time of Sniper Month while the Tanker Vest offers style and protection. Both of these new NX items are joined by a new Specialist Item, the First Aid Kit. Specialists can heal their entire team with this item. Both the First Aid Kit and the M39 EMR are also available through Gear Points.

Combat Arms also features a new user interface, offering a more modern and industrial look, as well as some excellent new features which will enhance the experience for players.

Soldiers can always join the ranks at Facebook and watch Combat Arms videos at YouTube.

NEW FEATURE:
HOLLYWOOD VS VIDEO GAMES

Sonic_The_Hedgehog_The_Movie.jpg

Remember when Disney launched the abysmal feature film adaptation of Nintendo’s hugely successful Super Mario Bothers game? Or does anyone own the two Mortal Kombat films? And what about the epic works of Uwe Boll? It’s safe to say that film adaptations of video games haven’t exactly been great. So what is it, is Hollywood just unable to translate cool games to the screen? Or are inept filmmakers the real cause of the problem?
