05/26/2016 - Steam Free Weekend for RPG Maker MV Starts TodaySteam Free Weekend for RPG Maker MV Starts Today!
The RPG Maker Team at Degica
has announced that this weekend, May 26th-30th, everyone has the opportunity to try their hand at game design with RPG
Maker MV for free on Steam. In addition, RPG Maker MV is available to purchase from the Steam store for 50% off, the highest
discount ever on this software.
RPG Maker MV is the latest in a series of beginner game engines designed to allow
anyone, of any experience level, to make their own video games. RPG Maker is easy enough to learn to be used in tech
camps and schools to teach children game design, but is also used by professional indie game developers.
The RPG
Maker Steam Free Weekend gives everyone the opportunity to explore making their own game, and with the indie game development
scene booming, there has never been a better time to get involved. Many talented designers and writers lack the art or coding
skills necessary to make a game in most engines, but RPG Maker MV solves this with its simple and intuitive database,
map editor, and event editor. With these three tools, anyone can make a game by just pointing and clicking.
"Our
goal has always been to provide an engine that anyone can use, so that as many people as possible can reach their dreams
of making a game," said Nick Palmer, RPG Maker's community manager, "And this free weekend allows us to get that
power into more hands than ever before."
In celebration of the Free Weekend, the RPG Maker Team also announced
the upcoming Steam Workshop integration for RPG Maker MV. With Steam Workshop, RPG Maker users from around the world
will be able to easily share the games and resources they have made. This development will make it easier than ever for hobby
RPG Maker MV devs to reach a large audience with their games.

05/24/2016 - Downwell Launches on PS4 and VITAGET VERTICAL: DOWNWELL LAUNCHES ON PS4 and VITA
TOKYO – Opera
singer turned game developer Ojiro Fumoto and vertically oriented publisher Devolver Digital have released the award winning
action platformer Downwell on PlayStation 4 and Vita. The celebrated vertical shooter about a young person with guns for boots
is now available on PlayStation Network for $4.99 / £3.99 / €4.99 [downwellgame.com].
Downwell is a
curious game about a young boy venturing down a well in search of untold treasures with only his Gunboots to protect him.
Make your way further and further down into the darkness filled with nasty creatures and mysterious secrets to collect the
spectacular red gems scattered about the rocks. Step into precariously placed shops and buy some helpful items or level up
between levels to battle well-dwelling monsters and uncover hidden caves filled with riches and relics. No two trips down
the well are ever the same!
“Devolver Digital spent over $5 million to developer the technology to play Downwell
vertically on your TV,” noted Devolver Digital CFO Fork Parker. “Seemed reasonable at the time.”
Downwell is also available for iOS, Android, and PC. But also, PlayStation – that’s the point of this whole
thing.
